This last day hast just one important event, for some it probably was the absolute (but not the only) highlight: the closing ceremony as a part of the International Geographers Union (IGU) in Lomonosov Moscow State University. We left Computeria at 8.30 and at 14.42 all organizers, volunteers, observers, leaders and team members sat together in a great assembly hall and the ceremony began.
Some speeches were held and – as a very special surprise – the astronauts from the ISS appeared on a direct video and sent their greetings to the iGeo participants. Finally all medals were awarded and the iGeo was closed officially by Co-chair Alexander Chambers.
The press immediately started to do interviews with the winners, uncounted group photos were taken and everybody tried to say a last goodbye to their newfound friends. Most were preparing for their way home or another night in Moscow, but still a great group went back to the Computeria as the post-iGeo-excursion will start tomorrow.
Thank you, Alexey Naumov and your russian team, thank you, iGeo-team, for this most impressive week.
